"I signed up to volunteer as a
standard bearer and the next thing I knew, in addition
to that, I was volunteering to help set things up in
advance. Yes, I willingly signed up to set up tables and
chairs put tablecloths and skirts on the tables. Then my
chance to be a standard bearer came! What a blast - I
carried the standard on three different days. The LPGA
players were awesome. I came away with some great
memories and Lorena Ochoa even signed a ball for me!"
- Judy Alison, one of our many
multitalented volunteers.
"Giving to a worthy cause is a good thing, but helping
someone that can't help themselves is soul liberating...
those of us who stop the hectic pace just long enough to
lend a helping hand should be commended or at least get
a hug."
- Bill Manson, Hydration Chairman,
on the altruistic benefits of volunteering to help raise
funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities and other
children's charities.
"I retired and my wife put me to work!" exclaimed
Bill Molinski, a 6th year marshal on
Hole #12. Bill's interest in golf began when he was a
teenager and caddied at a local country club. He's been
involved in golf ever since. "I get together with a
group of guys and we play one or two times a week during
the summer...I even shot my age this year!" (Bill is
87!) Tournament week, Bill and his wife, Ginny, leave
their home by 6:00 a.m. to arrive at the course in time
for the early morning shift. Many days they'll stop and
pick up a couple of friends who also volunteer. "We all
love the tournament and enjoy the competition. It's
great to be involved."
